I love fusion. Whether it’s fusion of foods or fusion of energies or fusion of experiences.
I put myself through graduate school by working as a mobile disc jockey. Yep, that was me – traveling all across Washington DC and dragging heavy equipment up and down stairs, through conference centers, hotel ballrooms, school gyms and in people’s basements, decks, boats and backyards. One of my favorite songs to play at a summer party was Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves. Imagine my delight when searching for it on you-tube to discover a version of that same song by the Soweto Gospel Choir.
Ah, the fusion of an old song that I loved done in a new style by another group that I love.
What old thing in your life has become new again through a new look, sound, smell, thought, or taste?
Gracious God – Help us to notice the simple moments in our lives when we feel that fusion of something old becoming something new. Help us to notice it when it happens – as a reminder that all things have been made new in Jesus Christ. Amen.
