As I was driving home from choir rehearsal, I heard this great song on the radio (Jazz 88.5 FM) – and it has haunted me ever since. It’s called “Mercy Now” by Mary Gauthier.
My church and my country could use a little mercy now
As they sink into a poisoned pit
That’s going to take forever to climb out
They carry the weight of the faithful
Who follow them down
I love my church and country, and they could use some mercy now
Every living thing could use a little mercy now
Only the hand of grace can end the race
Towards another mushroom cloud
People in power, well
They’ll do anything to keep their crown
I love life, and life itself could use some mercy now
How many times have you longed for mercy? How have you been a mercy giver to someone else? We know God offers mercy – but how often do we remember to actually ask for it?
I could use a little mercy now, God.

A lovely song, thanks Karen.
WOW!! Thanks so much, Karen. Something all of us can use.
What is the relationship between mercy and repentance?
